Barbecues, fireworks and an entire nation celebrating together—everyone loves a good Fourth of July celebration, right? Not exactly. Not the families and friends of the 278 Americans who lost their lives last July 4 in alcohol-related traffic accidents between 2010 and 2014. Or the hundreds of other individuals who spent the second half of last summer recovering from injuries obtained while driving under the influence during the July 4 holiday. And not the 4,012 Delaware citizens whose lives changed profoundly in 2017 with a DUI arrest. Each July 4, thousands of your neighbors, customers and clients are haunted by the vision of a loved one falling victim to someone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) will soon launch an aggressive initiative to prevent this scenario for thousands of Delawareans this Fourth of July holiday—and we’re coming to you with the opportunity to be on the front lines with us, leading the charge. In partnership with the ridesharing company, Lyft®, we’ll be launching our SoberLift® program to provide free Lyft vouchers for individuals who want a safe ride. You can partner with us to help advance our objectives by: • Displaying our posters on-site • Serving as a Lyft voucher distribution point for our street teams • Helping to fund the purchase of Lyft® vouchers Your support will undoubtedly bring greater attention to key safety issues, build credibility for the program and mobilize more people to take advantage of the Lyft® vouchers—all of which will increase the likelihood that fewer people will be in harmful or fatal crashes this Fourth of July. Be assured, your financial assistance will be noticed and appreciated by your customers, not to mention dozens of influencers in the state of Delaware. Most importantly, it will save lives. CLICK HERE to view support levels for the OHS SoberLift® initiative, along with the sponsorship benefits that you will receive for your contributions. We ask that you please contact Mitch Topal at 302-744-2743 or mitch.topal@state.de.us no later than June 1, 2018, so that we can make sure you receive all the benefits listed. Just one impaired driver can negatively impact the lives of so many people. If one partnership—your partnership with OHS—could save a single life, imagine the positive impact of your kindness.
