Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) recently accredited Saint Francis Hospital along with Dr. Michael Conway as a Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery—the first healthcare provider in the state to receive the designation. A Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery accreditation distinguishes Saint Francis from many other hospitals and outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. “The SRC evaluator was very impressed with the Saint Francis staff and facility,” said Dr. Michael Conway, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Saint Francis Healthcare, who led the accreditation process. “Patients in need of hernia repair can rest assured knowing that they have access to an excellent level of service close to home.” Healthcare organizations seeking accreditation by SRC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site inspection process, which includes physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in the accreditation program. Status as an accredited organization means Saint Francis has met nationally recognized standards. Not all healthcare organizations seek accreditation; not all that undergo the process are granted accreditation. “Saint Francis Healthcare is committed to providing patients with the utmost safety and quality of care,” said Dan Sinnott, President and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare. “Achieving the Hernia Center of Excellence designation is one more way we are fulfilling our Vision to Become Delaware’s Preferred Healthcare Provider.” To learn more about Saint Francis Healthcare’s surgical programs, including the Center of Excellence of Hernia Surgery, visit www.stfrancishealthcare.org/our-services/surgery-services.
