Nanticoke Health Services is pleased to announce that Julie Thornton, RRT, CPFT, has been named Employee of the Month for July 2018. Julie started her career at Nanticoke Health Services in January 1991 as a respiratory therapist to earn hands-on experience while attending college. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Salisbury State University in 1992, Julie became a full time staff respiratory therapist. In 1994, she became a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT). Julie continued to her education by cross-training in neurology testing and helped create Nanticoke’s pulmonary-neurology department. Today, Julie continues her role as Nanticoke’s only CPFT and is a member of the American Association of Respiratory Therapists. Julie is hard-working and very efficient at flexing the schedule to make sure the Pulmonary Function Technologist (PFT) lab runs smoothly and in accordance to ATS standards. Julie also performs neurology testing when there is a need. Julie is a dependable and dedicated staff member and always shows up with a good attitude and a smile on her face. Julie lives in Preston with her husband, Brian, their children, Jayna and Will, and their English bulldog, Chunk. Her daughter is a junior at the University of Alabama (UA) with high academics and was recently accepted into the nursing program with interest in becoming a nurse anesthetist or Nurse Practitioner. Julie’s son is a sophomore at Colonel Richardson High School with high academics and prowess as a baseball and soccer player. Julie’s free time is spent on sports fields, traveling, and hanging out with friends. She also enjoys watching as her husband drive at the speedway, and spending time with her daughter at UA watching Alabama football. Nanticoke appreciates all of Julie’s hard work and dedication.
