State officials; Delaware Small Business Development Center officials; and University of Delaware mascot YoUDee hit Main Street Monday, November 19 to share the importance of shopping small this holiday season. Celebrated each year the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday highlights how consumers make a real impact in their communities by supporting small businesses. This family-owned shop – located just off campus from the historic University of Delaware main campus since 1999– offers books, UD gear, clothes, gifts , and the like. 2:00 p.m. – Rainbow Records (54 E. Main St., Newark, Del. 19711) Business tour & media availability. This family-owned independent music store has been a Newark, Del. cornerstone since 1976. Offering vinyl records, turntables, CDs, cassettes, and the like, the shop is gearing up for ‘Record Store Day’ on Black Friday (Nov. 23, 2018), an international celebration of independent record stores including vinyl and CD releases and products made exclusively for the day. 2:30 p.m. – Caffe Gelato (90 E. Main St., Newark, Del. 19711) Business tour & media availability. This award-winning restaurant includes a 1,500 bottle wine cellar with over 100 varietals and a bar.
