Wilmington Renaissance Corporation’s (WRC) Board of Directors has selected and hired Renata B. Kowalczyk as the organization’s new managing director. Ms. Kowalczyk will begin her new role effective immediately. With over 20 years of experience in the business sector in New York City, the greater Seattle area and in Wilmington, Ms. Kowalczyk will bring her skills to the nonprofit sector by leading WRC, an organization with a 25-year history in innovating new ideas and solutions to revitalize Downtown Wilmington. “I am very excited to take on this new role,” said Ms. Kowalczyk. “I believe that with my passion for creating thriving communities, experience in strategic planning and partnership building, I can help usher in another quarter-century of dynamic projects and Big Ideas for Wilmington Renaissance Corporation. I’m ready to get started.” Ms. Kowalczyk’s career includes roles at JPMorgan Chase and Merrill Lynch. She also spent time working as a business consultant for startups and small businesses as well as an angel investor for women-owned businesses. “After a very positive search process, the board unanimously agreed that Renata is the right person to lead WRC into the future,” said Glenn Moore, chair of WRC’s Board of Directors. “Out of all the great candidates we spoke with, she stood out as the best fit to continue the great work WRC has been doing for the past 25 years.” Ms. Kowalczyk is a graduate of Baruch College and Columbia University where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees respectively, both in business administration. She is also a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Program in Strategy for Social Impact. A Wilmington resident, Ms. Kowalczyk enjoys many of the fun activities that the city offers. She is a member of the Forum of Executive Women Delaware as well as Vice-President of the Board of Delaware Shakespeare, and a committee co-chair at the Rotary Club of Wilmington. “We are truly excited to see Renata taking the helm at Wilmington Renaissance Corporation,” said Wilmington Mayor Michael Purzycki. “We look forward to working with her and to our continued partnership with Wilmington Renaissance Corporation.”
