The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce wishes to extend its sincere condolences to the Bush family during this difficult time. It is with great respect and deepest sympathy from the State Chamber and Office of Senator Coons that the Taste of Delaware event, scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, December 5, on Capitol Hill, will be canceled. “The annual Taste of Delaware celebration is a terrific event, one of the best attended and most anticipated of the annual state celebrations on Capitol Hill. I am grateful for the leadership of the State Chamber of Commerce and the active and enthusiastic participation of so many vendors over the past eight years that the Chamber has been coordinating the event. This year’s Taste of Delaware is scheduled for Wednesday evening, December 5, which is also the day of President George H.W. Bush’s state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Given that the Congress and the nation will be engaged in mourning the passing of a great American, I regretfully believe we need to work together to reschedule this year’s event to early next year, and I hope all involved will understand and join me in reflecting on President Bush’s many contributions to our nation,” said Senator Coons. We appreciate the support and understanding of our members and partners in this decision.
