On November 29, the Nemours Fund for Children’s Health held their annual donor reception and announced the 2018 recipients of the Inspiration Awards. Honorees were: Josh and Mandy Titter of Heart of Hope – The Caralynn Titter Foundation, Jim Viner of HSC Building and Construction Managers, and Reagan and Payton Garnsey of Buckets of Love. These awards are given to donors — individual, foundation, or corporate — based on generosity and commitment to the community. Heart of Hope has donated a total of $100,000 to fund the construction of a special family space in the Cardiac Department. Named in memory of their daughter, Cara, families now have a private, respectful place to process information, grieve, and sometimes celebrate. Heart of Hope also provides gift cards each year to Nemours’ Child Life Program that are used to purchase food and supplies for activities enjoyed by cardiac patients. Additionally, Heart of Hope helped ensure the newly opened ‘clubhouse’ addition to the Child Life Department was equipped with telemetry, making it possible for children who need cardiac monitoring to enjoy the new space. HSC Building and Construction Managers (HSC) has supported Nemours’ signature events increasing their commitment since 2010. To date, they have given Nemours $133,000 to support patients in many areas of the hospital. Most recently, HSC funds have benefited the Neuroscience and Autism Programs, cerebral palsy, and cardiac care and research. President and CEO, Jim Viner, accepted the award on behalf of HSC for the company’s continuous commitment in support for the children and families at Nemours. Buckets of Love, founded by sisters Reagan and Payton, has donated $9,000 in age-specific toys to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Nemours satellite locations throughout the Delaware Valley. The young philanthropist honorees credit the support of family, friends and the local community that help them bring smiles to the faces of children "one bucket at a time." "Every year, the impact of your donations is clearly visible through the hospital and the Delaware Valley, and thanks to Josh and Mandy, Jim and HSC, and Reagan and Payton, this year was even more tangible," says Cathy Kanefsky, Chief Development Officer of the Nemours Fund for Children’s Health. "All of you are critical pieces to the puzzle as we seek to always improve the care we provide our patients and their families."
