Goldey-Beacom College Dean of Students Elected President of MACUHO

Goldey-Beacom College is pleased to announce that Dean of Students Jocelyn E. Moses (Byers-Smith) has been elected as President of the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO). Moses (Byers-Smith) has been a member of MACUHO since 2007 and previously served as the director of membership development. Upon completion of her presidency at the end of 2024, her position will become immediate past president through 2025.

In addition to her appointment as president, Moses (Byers-Smith) has also been honored to be selected as one of eight faculty for the 25th annual MACUHO/NEACUHO Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers) Regional Entry-Level Institute (RELI) which will be held beginning May 28, 2024, at The George Washington University.

RELI provides professional development opportunities for entry level staff and veteran housing and residence life staff through an intensive experience which includes promoting interaction of both groups through presenting and mentoring.

With her professional experiences and institutional knowledge, energy and enthusiasm, Moses (Byers-Smith) will address the topic: Crisis Management & Student Behavior.

Moses (Byers-Smith) has been working in the higher education field for 17 years in student affairs and currently oversees GBC student affairs which includes: student engagement, residence life and housing, community and civic engagement, mental health and wellness and community standards, and Clery Act. Her efforts promote a promote a safe, inclusive and student-focused sense of community at GBC.

Prior to Goldey-Beacom College, Moses (Byers-Smith) served at Fairleigh Dickinson University as the assistant dean for student engagement and first-year experience. She has also served as the coordinator for the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement as well as a resident director at Bloomfield College, where she found her voice and passion for student engagement.

Moses (Byers-Smith) holds a B.A. in Sociology with a Concentration in Social Work from the College of St. Elizabeth and an M.A. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Human Resources from Goldey-Beacom College.

The Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers supports its members by providing networking and mentoring opportunities, research on contemporary topics and accessible developmental experiences focused on college and university housing.
