Beebe Healthcare is pleased to announce that Victoria Savage, RN, has earned a prestigious DAISY Award. This award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond the call of duty, with a commitment to clinical excellence and the delivery of compassionate care for patients. Savage was honored after caring for a specific patient in the intensive care unit (ICU) who was very ill and had a lot of fears about the severity of her medical condition. The patient later wrote a note of gratitude, expressing that she felt blessed to have met Savage, and that her gentle touch, kind words, and bright smile brought comfort throughout her stay in the hospital. "We shared a few personal stories which added that ‘human’ touch to my care,” noted the patient. “Having been in different hospitals over the past several years, I can honestly say that Victoria is a shining example for hospital nurses. I nominated her for the DAISY award because she truly goes above and beyond when working with her patients.” During a surprise celebration, Savage received a DAISY certificate and a hand-carved Healer’s Touch sculpture, inscribed with the words “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” The DAISY Award is presented at hospitals across the United States in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick received inspired a new way of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients.
