Saint Mark’s is pleased to announce that Coach Mike DiGennaro was named the 2024 Boys’ High School Track & Field Coach of the Year for the state of Delaware by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). DiGennaro is coming off a huge season, with his team going undefeated and then winning the DIAA State Championship. The team also earned 1st place at the New Castle County Championships, 1st place at the Catholic Conferences and was voted Delaware Boys’ Team of the Year by the State Coaches Committee. DiGennaro has earned several personal accolades including Delaware Boys’ Head Coach of the Year, New Castle County Boys’ Coach of the Year and now his most recent title of USTFCCCA Delaware Boys’ High School Track & Field Coach of the Year. As a state winner, Coach DiGennaro is in consideration for the National High School Track & Field Coach of the Year award. "I am extremely honored to have received the award as the Delaware Boys’ Coach of the Year for 2024 by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. I share this honor with my coaching staff. We shared the same visions and goals; and we worked together to create the blueprint for a successful team this year. They deserve this credit along with me,” he said. “I am excited to receive this award because it also represents the grit and determination of our team and, particularly, our seniors. They set the tone and led the way, and to finish the season as undefeated state champions was a moment we will all remember for a long time." Athletic Director Matt Smith is quick to celebrate DiGennaro’s accomplishments. “We are so proud of Coach DiGennaro. This award is a testament to his leadership as he inspires his athletes to dig deep, to strive for excellence and to never give up. He puts them through intense training and, at the same time, finds a way to make it fun and enjoyable. His instincts as a coach are spot on,” he said. “This honor is well-deserved.”
