Event Description: The 2nd Annual Fighting For Air At All Extremes is back – and if you haven’t guessed it yet, yes, it is a SKYDIVING event! This was a huge success for the American Lung Association in Delaware last year and the event filled up very quickly so this year the event will be held over a 2-day period on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17. All monies raised at this event support our programs in DE, NJ, PA and WV and are geared toward helping people quit smoking, advocating for healthy air, and educating millions about lung diseases like asthma, COPD and lung cancer, as well as funding research. If you are interested, all you need to do is donate or fundraise the $300 minimum and you get a tandem jump, a t-shirt, and a goodie bag to take home. There will be even be “extreme” prizes for “extreme” fundraisers. You’ll even earn your “wings” after the jump. Please consider jumping as an individual or forming a team. A team simply means that you and your team mates (up to 7 people) will get to jump at the same time. Do you have family or friends who do not want to jump out of a perfectly good plane at 14,000 feet? Have them register as a Virtual Jumper! There is something for everyone this year. Directions:
From points west of the Chesapeake Bay: Follow Route 50 East to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. After the bridge continue to follow Route 50 East for approximately 15.5 miles to Route 404 East. Follow Route 404 all the way to Route 13 (town of Bridgeville, DE). Follow Route 13 South for approximately 15 miles to Laurel. Turn right onto Route 24 West (3rd traffic light on Route 13 in Laurel). Follow Route 24 for 1.5 miles, the Drop Zone is on your right at the Laurel Airport. From points north of Laurel: Follow Route 13 South (approximately 45 miles South of Dover). Turn right onto Route 24 West (3rd traffic light on Route 13 in Laurel). Follow Route 24 for 1.5 miles, the Drop Zone is on your right at the Laurel Airport. From points South of Laurel: Follow Route 13 North (approximately 7 miles North of Maryland/Delaware state line). Turn left onto Route 24 West (2nd traffic light on Route 13 in Laurel). Follow Route 24 for 1.5 miles, the Drop Zone is on your right at the Laurel Airport. From Delaware beaches: Take the most direct route to Route 13 (approximately 40 miles to the airport). Once on Route 24 in Laurel, proceed West for 1.5 miles, the Drop Zone is on your right at the Laurel Airport. For anyone coming in on Route 313, Laurel Airport is approximately 9 miles due East of Sharptown.
