Event Description: Please join us for a Celebration of the Founding of The Biden Breast Health Initiative with Dr. Jill Biden Friday, October 28, 2011 Noon Hotel du Pont Gold Ballroom This Celebration of the Founding of BBHI with Dr. Jill Biden is a tribute to her vision and concern for the health of young women in Delaware. Dr. Biden founded the not-for-profit Biden Breast Health Initiative in 1993 because she saw the critical need to educate young women about the importance of breast self-exam, early detection and a healthy life style. This program is provided at no cost to young women in schools throughout the state. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, wears many hats; she is a mother, grandmother and educator for three decades, she is a proud Blue Star mom, and an active member of her community. As Second Lady, Jill works to highlight the importance of community colleges, to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by military families, and to bring attention to women’s health issues, including breast cancer. Dr. Biden also is very active in Delaware Boots on the Ground, providing support for military families, and in Book Buddies, providing books for low income children. She is a Professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College.
