Event Description: Join DBCC for the 16th Annual Breast Cancer Update on Wednesday, April 10. This year’s theme is “Continuing the Breast Cancer Journey” and will focus on advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment; breast reconstruction options including personal stories from breast cancer survivors and the option they chose; considerations for radiation after a mastectomy; couples coping with a breast cancer diagnosis; and self-image and sexuality after breast cancer. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Shelley Hwang of Duke University, Department of Surgery and Surgical Oncology. Dr. Hwang’s clinical interests are diagnosis and treatment of early-stage breast cancer, management of patients at high risk for breast cancer, and surgical treatment of patients with breast disease. The conference is free and open to the public. Certificates of attendance documenting 4.5 Contact Hours and .45 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) will be available to Nurses and other healthcare professionals. Registration for contact hours or CEUs is $30. Corexcel is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The Breast Cancer Update is one of many ways that DBCC uses its funds locally to benefit and serve the people of Delaware and its surrounding communities. This annual one-day educational forum is free and open to the public and has become one of Delaware’s most trusted sources of up-to-date breast cancer information. The event features discussions by panels of breast cancer experts and attracts crowds of physicians, nurses, breast cancer survivors and advocates each year.
