Event Description: This is our 6th Annual Helping Hands Community Honors Banquet that Helping Hands Development Center, Inc. has sponsored. This event will take place on March 18th (7-10pm) at the Longshoreman’s Hall in Southbridge, in Wilmington, DE. Yearly, we honor students who participate in the following programs: Financial Literacy, Writing Contest, Poster Contest and one who will receive the Academic Excellence Award. We also honor like-minded organizations that have a heart for the youth of today. Dr. Gina Moody who is a veteran principal, will receive the Trailblazer Award. In addition to her we will have Mr. Erik Williams (former NFL Dallas Cowboy) as our Keynote Speaker, honor our Financial Literacy Instructor or 5 years and a community Honorary Helping Hands Mom award. We will also have a number of vendors and a silent auction featuring a number of fun events for youth and their families. Prior to the close of the event, three people who have purchased a raffle ticket will receive the following prizes: iPad Mini, 40 inch Sony HD TV or $150 Visa gift card. The remaining guest will receive door prizes throughout the event. As for our caterer, every year we select one of Delaware’s Vo-Tech schools to cater this event. On this year we are very privileged to have St. Georges, Vo-Tech school prepare and serve our food. This gives the culinary department an opportunity to showcase their talents. Finally, as for entertainment, we always seek out youth talent. On this year we will be having the Elbert Palmer Drumline, a brother and sister Mime dancing team and a Spoken Word piece on “The Creation” by an eight grad student. Because this is a family event we are endeavoring to have the entire family be present. In order to accomplish this we are seeking sponsors that can purchase a table of (8) for $280 or sponsor some students or support us with a donation. No amount is too small.
