Delaware College Scholars (DCS) has elected Katherine “Katie” Wilkinson as its new board president. Ms. Wilkinson comes to DCS with a background in business and deeply understands the value education brings to Delaware’s business community. As a senior vice president and Market Executive at Fulton Bank, Ms. Wilkinson is responsible for the commercial banking business across Delaware and in Cecil County, Md. “Katie is going to be an integral part of our organization’s growth. From our inaugural cohort of 35 scholars to our most recent cohort spanning over 50 scholars, our organization is expanding in both the number of students we serve and the programming we provide as we follow our scholars through their college journey and beyond,” said Dr. Tony Alleyne, executive director of DCS. He continued, “We’re thrilled to tap into Katie’s expertise and perspective as a business leader in the community who recognizes the value stakeholder relationships can provide our scholars.” In addition to her role with Delaware College Scholars, Ms. Wilkinson serves as vice chair of the board for the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce; board chair of the Partnership – a 501(c)3 organization within the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce that focuses on education; and serves as a trustee of Christiana Care Health Systems. “It’s an honor to serve as DCS’ new board chair,” commented Ms. Wilkinson. She continued, “I am so incredibly impressed by the scholars who participate in the program. I know first-hand how preparing our highest-achieving high school students to succeed in college not only sets them on a path for a lifetime of success; but also improves the economic outlook for our state and beyond. I am grateful to play a small role in ensuring Delaware’s most driven and committed students have the opportunity to succeed in four-year colleges and look forward to working with its executive director, Dr. Alleyne, in continuing to grow the program.” Ms. Wilkinson is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Mass. where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Drexel University.
