AAA Mid-Atlantic says drivers in the region should not see a significant rise in gas prices at the pump in coming weeks as a result of tensions in the Middle East, including a ballistic missile attack launched by Iran Tuesday evening. While crude oil prices spiked to more than $65 per barrel immediately following Tuesday's attack, the price then dropped to around $62 by mid-day, then fell to a $59.61 closing following assurances by President Trump during a press conference that the U.S. is looking at sanctions rather than military retaliation to Tuesday's attack. "In addition to crude oil prices remaining in a moderate range, the U.S. continues to maintain a healthy reserve supply and refineries throughout the region are operating well," said Ken Grant, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. "Barring natural disasters, unforeseen distribution disruptions, or other geo-political developments, we should not see any drastic increases in prices at the pump for the near future."
