As part of its efforts to combat the substance use disorder epidemic, Gaudenzia introduced a new telephone hotline designed to connect people to qualified treatment facilities. The Treatment and Recovery Hotline offers treatment locations across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, including facilities offering residential treatment, outpatient treatment, detoxification/withdrawal management, and medication assisted treatment. George Weller, the hotline’s supervisor, said, “Easy access to the proper treatment is a key in engaging a person in their individual recovery process. The purpose of the Treatment and Recovery Hotline is to reduce and overcome barriers to obtaining proper care, while assuring specific attention to the needs of the person seeking help." Almost 21 million Americans have substance use disorder, but only 4 million of them receive treatment. Gaudenzia established this new service to offer immediate aid and assistance to people suffering from substance use disorders and related illnesses. According to Weller, "The point is to make an appropriate match to the person’s needs and to have a range of options available and accessible.” To access help through Gaudenzia’s Treatment and Recovery Hotline, please call 1-833-976-HELP(4357).
