Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) officially kicks off Delaware’s graduation season with a two-day commencement event for the classes of 2020 and 2021. • Friday, April 30, 2021 Class of 2021 – Four ceremonies beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding with the final ceremony at 6:00 p.m. • Saturday, May 1, 2021 Class of 2020 – Two ceremonies beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding with the second ceremony at 12:00 p.m. The Class of 2021 includes commencement for the first graduating classes from the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and the Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology programs. The Class of 2021 will graduate 441 students, many of whom will attend in person. The Class of 2020 officially graduated virtually last May. Many of the 458 students in that class will attend the ceremonies on April 30. Each ceremony will be held under a tent in front of the Joseph West Jones Center on the College campus. All events will follow CDC and state of Delaware COVID guidelines to ensure the safety of all guests. GBC offices will be closed to the public during this time. All events will be livestreamed. Chris Burkhard, president and founder of Placers Staffing will deliver the commencement address to both classes. Burkhard is a fourth generation entrepreneur who is known as a cultural servant leader. His culture-led philosophy has led to Placers being listed with Inc.5000 a combined 10 times in its history. Burkhard is Delaware’s 2020 SBA Small Business Person of the Year. He is a Scaling Up Coach who loves to mentor entrepreneurs toward building their own successful businesses. He lives in Lewes, Delaware and is a dedicated husband to Kim and father to Josh and Hallie along with his Australian Shepherds, Gracie and Ziggy. Founded in 1886, Goldey-Beacom College has approximately 1,800 students enrolled from 22 states and over 60 nations. The College offers 41 degree options in its graduate and undergraduate programs with majors in psychology, economics, criminal justice, communication & media, human services, English and all areas of business including accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship and finance. Recent program additions include the Doctor of Business Administration program which started in fall 2018 and the M.A. in Counseling Psychology in fall 2019. The B. A. in Human Services and the B. A. in Communication and Media began in fall 2020. The College is committed to connecting its graduates with careers in their respective fields.
