Duffield Associates is excited to announce the addition of Jim Johnson, Jr., P.E. to its expanding Coastal Services Practice. Jim has over 40 years of experience in the public and private sector infrastructure market and will continue his unwavering commitment to providing creative, sustainable solutions for our clients. While serving as the Chief Engineer of the Delaware Department of Transportation and Executive Director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority, he led the execution of their capital programs; implemented organizational initiatives to improve transparency, accountability and accessibility; and fostered a collaborative, team-based approach to problem solving. Previously, he held corporate leadership roles responsible for project execution, business development and strategic planning. Jim led the successful completion of the $45M Guam Commercial Port Improvement Program for the US Department of Transportation – Maritime Administration, as well as major infrastructure projects throughout the mid-Atlantic area. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Neumann University and is a graduate of the American Council of Engineering Companies Senior Executive Institute. In 2004, he was named Delaware’s Engineer of the Year. Serving in various capacities at the local and national level, Jim has been an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the Delaware Engineering Society. He is currently serving on the Executive Leadership Team for the Delaware American Heart Association’s STEM Go Red program, which promotes increased awareness of STEM for young women in the community. Jim frequently lectures throughout the Mid-Atlantic area to university students and his peers on the importance of ethics in the engineering profession. At Duffield, Jim will lead business development and project execution efforts specifically related to Duffield’s growing regional Coastal Services Practice along with its partner companies in the NECS platform. The NECS platform currently includes Ohio-based Hull and Associates, LLC and Florida-based HSW Consulting, both leading environmental, energy, water and civil infrastructure firms. Duffield Associates, LLC are specialists in civil and environmental engineering projects serving Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware. Duffield’s services also include civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering, water and wastewater engineering, marine engineering and dredge material management, transportation, natural resources, structural engineering, landscape architecture, and materials testing with an emphasis on person-to-person collaboration across our diverse range of engineering disciplines. Duffield also takes pride in our community outreach which enables us to make a positive difference in the world around us.
