Goldey-Beacom College Congratulates Rising Star Maureen Tomey

Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) congratulates Maureen Tomey, alumni and event specialist, as a recipient of the 2021-2022 Rising Star award presented by the Delaware ACE Women’s Network (DAWN).

The honor will be presented by DAWN President Victoria Chang, Ed.D. from Delaware Technical Community College at the DAWN Rising Star and Leadership Awards Celebration scheduled for October 21, 2021, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. via zoom.

The Rising Star award is presented to one person from each member institution. Criteria for the award include a strong commitment to any aspect of higher education, community service and the promise of future leadership. GBC President Colleen Perry Keith lauded Tomey’s commitment to the College and said, “As a female leader of the College, I am pleased to see Maureen receive this honor and recognition for her efforts on behalf of the College. We are all very proud of her.”

Tomey has worked for Goldey-Beacom College since 2016 as an alumni and event specialist. In her current role, she works closely with the Alumni Board of Directors to identify alumni needs and interests, and plan effective points of engagement. In 2020, she spearheaded a strategic initiative to create an Alumni Mentorship Program and organized an advisory committee to identify the parameters and technological needs of the program. Ms. Tomey has collaborated with other departments on collegewide events such as Legacy Weekend and Convocation.

Prior to her work at the College, Ms. Tomey served as a Psy.D. admissions program coordinator at Widener University. She has also worked for the American Board of Surgery and AO North America in Philadelphia, managing board certification examinations, symposiums, international retreats and CME courses designed for doctors and surgeons of various specialties.

Maureen is a voracious reader and loves to write. She and her husband Keith live in Landenberg, Pennsylvania with their daughter Miranda.

Delaware ACE Women’s Network is committed to the advancement of women leaders in higher education. For more than 25 years, DAWN has provided information and counsel to constituencies within the higher education community regarding policies, issues, education, and research that influence women’s equity, diversity, and advancement.
