Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) today announced the appointment of Marcia Blessing Dulin Wood and Lee H. Burstein as new members of its Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2022. Marcia Blessing Dulin Wood is currently the chief financial officer of Choptank Transport, a privately held, family-owned transportation logistics company, where she serves as key confidential leader for strategic target of mergers and acquisitions. She led the team to a successful sale to Hub Group in Oct 2021 for $130 million cash, stocks and other options. Over the last 14 years of her tenure, Wood has served as a key member of the executive team which has developed and implemented the company’s strategic growth from $10 million to over $500 million with 425 associates and expansion to six additional U.S. locations. Wood’s career includes serving as an internal auditor for Shore Bancshares and the plant controller for Fortune 500 Food manufacturing corporation General Mills/Pillsbury. "I’m honored to be elected to the board of trustees. As a first-generation college student, I was inspired to attend Goldey-Beacom because of local leaders who were graduates of the college. Mr. Al Turner, owner of AW Sisk & Son, and Mr. A. T. Blades, founder of Preston Trucking, both made a major impact on Caroline County, Maryland. I wanted to make a positive impact on the county in which I grew up. Without Mr. Blades’ scholarship endowment at Goldey-Beacom, I would not have been able to afford college and without that ability, I wouldn’t have been able to serve as the CFO of Choptank Transport and to help grow the company into the brokerage powerhouse that Hub Group recently purchased," said Wood. Wood graduated from GBC in 1994 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a designated Chartered Global Management Accountant. In 2014, Wood earned the Best in Finance CFO Award from the Baltimore Business Journal. She is the 2006 recipient of the GBC Rising Star Award. Lee H. Burstein is the founder of Dynamic Systems, LLC which provides visuals from ground to sky to business. He has developed strategic business partnerships, conducted computer consulting, training and has designed customized software. “I felt privileged to be invited to join this distinctive board of trustees,” said Burstein. “At first, I wasn't sure what I had to offer, but then I realized that my entire career has been centered around education. With the combination of entrepreneurship, business and education, I believe my education and experiences will be a complement to the existing board membership.” Burstein’s career began as a high school science teacher where he focused on curriculum. He has also served as a vice president for Truax, Inc. where he designed and managed development and support software products; director of professional services for jBase Software, Inc. where he created training and consulting programs for re-sellers and end-users worldwide; and sales engineer/product manager/technical trainer for InterSystems, Inc. where he defined product roadmaps and created video content for software products as well as managed delivery of cloud-based virtual machines for hands-on instruction worldwide. Burstein holds a B.S. in Science from Penn State University, a B.S. in Education from Penn State University and an M.S. in Instructional Design/Technology from Towson State University.
