Delaware Historical Society

The Delaware Historical Society was founded in Wilmington in 1864 and includes Old Town Hall, the Delaware History Museum. the Mitchell Center for African American Heritage, a renowned Research Library, Willingtown Square, and the National Historic Landmark Read House and Gardens in New Castle. Today, we are the only private nonprofit with the mission to serve as the statewide organization preserving, exploring, and sharing Delaware history, heritage, and culture to strengthen our community.
